Baby K’tan is a unique baby carrier that was created by two sets of parents, Michal and Brian Chesal and Issac and Aviva Wernick. Each set of parents experienced frustrations when using the available carriers on the market while caring for their children with special needs. To find a solution that worked for her family, Michal modified the carrier that she had to meet her specific needs. With the alterations that she made she was able to successfully carry her oldest son Coby who has Down syndrome. 4 years later the Chesals lent their modified carrier to the Wernicks whose youngest son had open heart surgery at the age of 4 weeks.

After using the carrier for a few months the Wernicks and Chesals came together to continue modifying the carrier. The Hollywood, Florida based company was officially born in 2003, and the Chesal and Wernick families are still very involved in the everyday operations of Baby K’tan.

The patent pending design of the Baby K’tan is a cross between a sling and a more structured carrier. The unique design of the carrier provides parents with 8 carrying positions and the ability to use the carrier with a child from infancy through toddlerhood or a weight of 42 pounds. Each Baby K’tan is made of 100% cotton and a portion of the proceeds is allocated to the American Heart Association and advocacy programs for Down syndrome.
